About Us
Vintage Home Center and NH Rustic Designs came to be after a series of painting classes inspired me to do something different.
Our children had grown up and begun lives of their own. As my husband and I sat in an “empty nest,” we contemplated our new lives. We knew we needed to do something that was rewarding, helpful, and not just sitting in an office collecting a check until retirement.
As a parent and Girl Scout leader for 12 years, there was never time for a “me” activity. I saw an advertisement for painting classes and thought, "Why not?" After several classes, creativity seemed to explode out of me.
Before I knew what was happening, I'd filled my son's old room with used furniture that needed rehab, paints, sanders, and all sorts of brushes. After I painted several side tables, a huge hutch, and some small wooden pieces, a panic set in—what would I do with all these things??
In March 2018, I became a vendor with a local consignment shop. The painting continued. Sales were happening. As we grew and grew and grew, we realized we needed to move into our own space.
In September 2021, we ventured into our own space at 14 Main Street in West Lebanon, NH. After a successful Holiday Pop-up Shop at the end of 2021, we decided to open full-time in spring 2022.
We're now open full-time and continue to offer fabulous vintage furniture, some refurbished pieces, decor, antiques and fun finds. We've added several vendors who offer their own pieces and styles at the store. The combination of decor and furnishings offers a wide variety to our local customers as well as interior designers, dealers, and out of the area vendors.
While my husband, Dennis, continues to work in the office setting, he is still an important piece of our puzzle, hauling a trailer all over NH and VT to gather awesome inventory. He's also our tech support guy who keeps us up and running so sales can be made, the phones work, and e-mail can be received.
While I can’t be in the store all the time, our team is pretty fabulous. They'll kindly assist you and answer your questions. I hope you'll stop in, check out the store, and say hi!
